National Assembly Speaker Takes Part in Public Hearing Organised by Ministry of Justice
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, took part in a public hearing organised by the Ministry of Justice, concerning the harmonisation of a set of judicial laws with the opinion of Venice Commission experts.
On the occasion, the National Assembly Speaker stressed that it is of utmost importance to fully implement all the recommendations of the Venice Commission be before sending the draft laws back to this institution for an opinion.
Brnabic said that she was attending the public hearing to hear the opinions of experts in this field, with the aim of sending the new draft laws to the Venice Commission as soon as possible.
She thanked the Ministry of Justice and the members of the Working Group for their dedication and rapid organisation of the process of harmonising the recommendations with the set of recently adopted laws.
In the discussion that followed, the participants discussed the amendments to the Law on Public Prosecution, Law on the Organisation and Competences of State Authorities for the Fight against High-Tech Crime, Law on Seats and Territorial Jurisdiction of Courts and Public Prosecutor's Offices, Law on Judges, and the Law on the High Prosecutorial Council.
The public hearing was attended by the Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Dr Ugljesa Mrdic, Minister of Justice Nenad Vujic, representatives of the Working Group, judges and public prosecutors from all over Serbia, representatives of professional associations, the legal profession, as well as other interested members of the public.
