National Assembly Speaker Receives Von Sydow
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic received Bjorn von Sydow, Chairperson of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, visiting Belgrade as part of the preparations for the report on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.
Bjorn von Sydow briefed the National Assembly Speaker on the goal of his visit stating that he would focus on preparing for the new report and gathering information on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija. He stressed that he was aware of the circumstances the Serbian and other non-Albanian minorities were in and that he would try to present them, and everything else, in the most objective manner. To that end he would talk to the highest Serbian officials, as well as the presidents of the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo-Metohija and Pristina authorities.
The Speaker was pleased that Bjorn von Sydow would be able to gain insight into the real situation in view of the contacts he would make, and expects that the state of affairs would be presented as objectively as possible in the report to the CoE Parliamentary Assembly.
