Lamers commended the cooperation of the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. He gave a very positive estimate of Serbia’s efforts on the road to Euro-integration. Karl Lamers was particularly interested in the situation regarding the administrative crossings in the north of Kosovo-Metohija, emphasising the importance of addressing all disputed issues in a peaceful manner and through dialogue. He expressed hope that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina might be continued.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic explained the National Assembly’s activities on the adoption of the laws from the European agenda. She agreed with the view that it is very important that all the open issues regarding the administrative crossings as well as the legally elected institutions in the north of Kosovo-Metohija be resolved through dialogue.

Djukic-Dejanovic gave a detailed elaboration and explanation of the Government’s positions regarding the developments in Kosovo-Metohija. She stressed that it is also the responsibility of the international community, and UN in particular, to avoid any kind of violence and that the involvement of all the main factors from the international community is extremely important in the process. In this context, Djukic-Dejanovic stressed that it is Serbia’s wish as well that all the open issues be resolved before its accession to the EU.
