National Assembly Speaker Receives Kazakh Ambassador to Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Madi Atamkulov today in a courtesy visit.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic wished the recently appointed Kazakh Ambassador a successful mandate, stressing that the peoples of Serbia and Kazakhstan share a firm friendship which they should continue to promote, primarily by strengthening cooperation in areas of common interest, especially economic and parliamentary cooperation. He thanked the Kazakh MPs who were part of the missions of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly which participated in the observation of the recent elections.

Kazakh Ambassador Madi Atamkulov highlighted the traditionally good and friendly relations between the two countries, with no outstanding issues, and especially the mutually expressed interest in promoting political dialogue at the high and highest level and development of bilateral cooperation. He said that during his mandate he would strive to promote trade and economic ties which he believes have particular potential since Kazakhstan is member of the Eurasian Economic Union with which Serbia has a free trade agreement.

The Assembly Speaker said that one of the new parliamentary legislature’s first tasks would be to establish friendship groups with other countries, including Kazakhstan, reiterating the open invitation to the Chairman of the Kazakh Majilis to come and visit Serbia.
