National Assembly Speaker Receives Israeli Ambassador to Serbia
National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic received H.E. Yossef Levy, the Ambassador of Israel, at his request.
Ambassador Levy urged furthering the cooperation between the two countries, starting from the historically and traditionally good relations. He expressed support of Serbia's Euro-integration process and confirmed Israel's continued policy as regards Kosovo-Metohija. In that context, he also advocated the Serbian side’s principled position on similar matters in multilateral forums, primarily as regards the situation in the Near and Middle East.
Speaker Stefanovic informed his guest on the NARS current activities, as well as the informative meeting with the Speaker of the Knesset, at the margins of the Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of the Council of Europe Member States in Strasbourg. He thanked him for Israel’s support in the matter of Kosovo-Metohija, as well as in the Euro-integration process and urged for a principled approach to all issues on the international level, based on international law.
The officials agreed on the enormous importance of the economic dimension of bilateral cooperation and, to that end, expressed readiness for concrete steps, particularly in the fields of agriculture and energy production.
In the domain of interparliamentary cooperation, they expressed readiness to exchange visits at the highest level, while the Israeli side was invited to organise an exhibition, as part of cultural cooperation, to be hosted by the NARS.
