National Assembly Speaker Receives Haik Nikogosian
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic received Haik Nikogosian, Head of the Secretariat of the World Health Organisation Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, and Minister of Health Zoran Stankovic.
Nikogosian is visiting Serbia on occasion of the one-year anniversary of the full implementation of the Law on Protection of Citizens from Tobacco Smoke Exposure, as well as the fifth anniversary of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control coming into force.
The Republic of Serbia ratified the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control on 8 February 2006, and on 9 May of the same year the Convention came into force. Nikogosian stressed that
National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic Dejanovic remarked on the citizens’ exceptional support of the Law on Protection of Citizens from Tobacco Smoke Exposure.
On the fifth anniversary of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control coming into force, Haik Nikogosian presented Slavica Djukic Dejanovic with a copy of the Convention.
