National Assembly Speaker Receives H.E. Ambassador of Japan Toshio Tsunozaki
On the occasion of the meeting between the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, MA Nebojsa Stefanovic and H.E. the Ambassador of Japan Toshio Tsunozaki.
H.E. Ambassador Tsunozaki presented the National Assembly Speaker with the Japanese Parliament’s letter of congratulations on being elected Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, with best wishes for his future efforts and hope that the relations between Serbia and Japan would continue to develop with the promotion of cooperation between the two countries’ respective parliaments.
Ambassador Tsunozaki also deemed the relations between Serbia and Japan excellent, hoping that they would be continued in the same spirit. On the occasion, he wished Mr. Stefanovic, the Serbian Parliament and the newly-elected Government success in their work.
National Assembly Speaker Mr. Nebojsa Stefanovic thanked the Ambassador for the congratulations, expressing the expectation that the framework of cooperation between the Serbian and Japanese parliament would be expanded and showing appreciation for the relations between the two nations and especially Japan’s assistance to Serbia.
Stefanovic stressed that he hoped the parliament would soon form a friendship group with Japan, adding that such a group already existed in the Japanese Parliament, because friendship groups play an important role in the promotion of parliamentary cooperation. The National Assembly Speaker proposed that the role of the two countries’ parliaments be expanded to include encouraging economic cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Tsunozaki endorsed the initiative and promised to do everything to speed up the process of expanding the cooperation between the Japanese and Serbian parliament.
Stefanovic briefed his guest on the Parliament’s future activities, as well as the plans to significantly intensify the Parliament’s activities via its committees during the new Serbian assembly mandate. Stefanovic highlighted the Parliament’s role in the control over the executive.
