National Assembly Speaker Receives German Ambassador to Serbia in Farewell Visit

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Thomas Schieb whose mandate in Serbia is coming to an end, in farewell visit.

The Assembly Speaker thanked the Ambassador for his engagement and friendly cooperation during his mandate in Serbia. He pointed out that bilateral relations are very well-developed and dynamic and that Germany is Serbia’s most important trading partner. The National Assembly Speaker went on to say that cooperation is getting better on the parliamentary level as well, as evidenced by the frequent and constructive exchanges of visits between parliamentarians and his very successful visit to Berlin last year.

Ambassador Thomas Schieb opined that the relations between Germany and Serbia are excellent, noting that the Western Balkans has a special importance for Germany and the EU. The Ambassador also expressed hope that the efficient cooperation in numerous areas and at different levels would continue after the constitution of the next parliamentary legislature and the formation of other state bodies.
