National Assembly Speaker Meets with Transport Community Director

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with the Director of the Transport Community Matej Zakonjsek.

The National Assembly Speaker emphasised the importance of the presence and activity of the Transport Community and pleasure at the fact that its headquarters are in Belgrade, reminding the guest that as Foreign Minister he had taken part in the negotiations preceding the establishment of the Transport Community. He expressed readiness to cooperate and offer all support needed for the projects conducted by the Transport Community, adding that Serbia is investing great efforts into developing a quality, modern road and rail infrastructure, with visible results in the past few years.

Transport Community Director Matej Zakonjsek thanked Ivica Dacic for his support in the establishment and operation of the Transport Community, emphasising the importance it has in the region both in terms of development and connectivity of the transport infrastructure and people, boosting their mobility and promoting the development of trade, tourism and all other economic activities. Zakonjsek briefed his host on the activities of the Transport Community and the need to develop a railway network in the region, stressing that it is one of the Transport Community’s priorities.
