National Assembly Speaker Meets with ODIHR Representatives

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met today in Belgrade with representatives of the ODIHR as part of the NAM mission.

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights NAM mission (Needs Assessment Mission) aims to assess the pre-election environment and preparations for elections, so that the ODIHR, based on the mission's findings, can recommend whether there is a need to send a mission and what its scope and format would be most appropriate.

Brnabic stressed that the ODIHR is always welcome in Serbia and that the doors of all institutions will always be wide open to them, as they have been so far. She added that cooperation with the ODIHR is of exceptional importance for Serbia, and that Serbia remains committed to this partnership in order to further strengthen the citizens' trust in the electoral process.

The Assembly Speaker stressed that Serbia has achieved a lot so far in terms of implementing ODIHR recommendations, adding that 12 of the 25 recommendations have been implemented so far, and that the number will soon reach 15, while more than half of the 7 key recommendations, 4 of them, have been implemented.

The ODIHR delegation is visiting Serbia from 6 to 10 July, at the invitation Speaker Brnabic extended last month.
