National Assembly Speaker Meets with Maltese Ambassador in Belgrade

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met today with the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Belgrade, Francesco Maria Amoruso.

Speaker Brnabic thanked Ambassador Amoruso for his many years of humanitarian work and assistance that the Sovereign Military Order of Malta has been providing to Serbia since 1885. She emphasised that these activities are of great importance to our citizens, but that the public is insufficiently aware of the scope and significance of this cooperation.

Ambassador Amoruso expressed his belief that the Serbian Parliament and the parliamentary friendship group within the National Assembly can play an important role in presenting the humanitarian and social activities being carried out, as well as in defining future cooperation projects.

The meeting was also attended by MP and Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Jovan Palalic, who thanked the National Assembly Speaker for recognising the importance of this topic and supporting the strengthening of future cooperation. He reminded that tomorrow, at the Postal Museum of Serbia, Serbia will mark its 140 years of cooperation with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and in honour of this anniversary, a commemorative postage stamp will be issued dedicated to the organisation’s first donation to our country.
