National Assembly Speaker Meets with Irish Ambassador to Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met today with the Irish Ambassador to Serbia, Kevin Colgan to discuss the reforms Serbia is conducting on its European path and the opportunities of further development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The officials stressed that the opening of the first Irish Embassy in Serbia is an important step forward in the strengthening of relations between the two states that contributes to the intensification of political dialogue, economic cooperation and ties between their institutions.

They also opined that there is room to further cooperation in areas of common interest and for an exchange of experiences, especially in view of Serbia’s European integration and Ireland’s experience within the European Union.

The fact that Ireland took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union from Cyprus was especially highlighted as an additional opportunity to strengthen European dialogue and cooperation.
