National Assembly Speaker Meets with Council of Europe Secretary-General

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met with the Council of Europe Secretary-General Alain Berset.

The officials exchanged opinions on Serbia's cooperation with the Council of Europe and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), as well as on human rights, electoral reforms, media freedom and the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.

Brnabic stressed that Serbia greatly values its cooperation with the Council of Europe and the PACE, stressing that parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in strengthening dialogue and mutual trust.

Speaker Brnabic delivered a letter to the Council of Europe Secretary-General regarding some of the assessments in the report of the partner organisations within the Council of Europe Platform for the Safety of Journalists, in which she drew attention to certain issues regarding the methodology and factual basis of certain allegations.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the National Assembly's delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Biljana Pantic Pilja.
