National Assembly Speaker Meets Russian Federation Upper House Speaker

The National Assembly Speaker met with the Speaker of the Russian Federation Upper House, Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko, in St. Petersburg.


In an open and friendly discussion Matviyenko stressed that Serbia is Russia’s key partner in the Balkans and that her country is interested to expand cooperation onto other segments – political, economic, cultural and humanitarian.

The officials expressed a mutual wish to continue the energy cooperation with a special focus on the South Stream project. Matviyenko was exceptionally pleased by the Serbian delegation’s visit to St. Petersburg.
