National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic on Continuation of Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue

In a statement on the continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue under EU mediation, held on 19 July 2021 in Brussels, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic said that the representatives of the international community could see which side was obstructing the dialogue from coming to a resolution.

He pointed out that the fact that the Republic of Serbia was constructive in this process and showing the will and faith to continue the dialogue is very important, because, as he said, the behaviour of Albin Kurti and the Pristina delegation obstructs these types talks and aims to render them meaningless. He said that the goal of Pristina delegation was to put pressure on Serbia to recognize the independence of the so-called Kosovo. In that sense, Serbia should be patient and constantly emphasize its commitment to the dialogue, regardless of what Kurti says, because those are unrealistic expectations outside the dialogue agenda. He also said that Kurti's policy is aimed at diverting attention from the essence of the dialogue, which is the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities on the territory of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija, as well as the continuation of the dialogue which would lead to a political solution to the problems in Kosovo-Metohija.
