National Assembly Speaker Dr Vladimir Orlic Receives Head of OSCE Mission to Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic received the Head of OSCE Mission to Serbia Ambassador Jan Braathu today to discuss the continuation of cooperation and the current political situation.

Highlighting the over 15 years of successful cooperation between the National Assembly and the OSCE Mission in Serbia, Dr Vladimir Orlic expressed his readiness to continue working on joint projects via support for the work of MPs and working bodies of the National Assembly.

Ambassador Jan Braathu said that the Parliament is the key institution in every country and that cooperation with the National Assembly is among the priorities of the work of the OSCE Mission in Serbia.

"Today, all of Serbia is very concerned about the situation in Kosovo-Metohija," said Speaker Orlic, deeming it important that the work of the OSCE Mission in Pristina is strictly based on respecting the principle of status neutrality.

"The Serbian people in Kosovo-Metohija are facing big problems and heavy pressures caused by Pristina’s irresponsible moves", said the National Assembly Speaker adding that our side, headed by President Aleksandar Vucic, is making a huge effort to find a solution that would preserve peace and stability.

"This policy of peace and stability, as well as the further economic strengthening of Serbia, has our people’s resounding support as is clearly visible from the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections", opined Dr Vladimir Orlic.

Ambassador Braathu said he understood Belgrade's position and did not doubt that peace and stability are of the greatest interest. Opining that a scenario involving violence and conflict should definitely be avoided, he also expressed the desire to reach a sustainable solution through dialogue.
