National Assembly Speaker Calls Local Elections

National Assembly Speaker Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic called an election for Belgrade, Negotin and Pecinci, for 16 March 2014.

Stefanovic said that, simultaneously with calling the election, he also decided that the electoral activities should start on 29 January and that the campaign should last 45 days so that the local authorities and the Provisional Body in Belgrade could concentrate on the citizens’ needs, not the campaign.

The Parliament Speaker hopes that the coming campaign would be marked by tolerance and mutual respect and that the citizens of Belgrade, Negotin and Pecinci would, after the elections, have an honest and responsible government which would fight for them and their rights.
