National Assembly MPs at International Gathering in Pirot
The 22nd Annual Conference of the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Christian Nations with the topic “Christian view of the refugee problem in light of current situation”, hosted by the City of Pirot ended on 14 April.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia was represented in the three-day Conference by MPs Aleksandar Cotric, Dr Vesna Rakonjac and Dragan Todorovic.
The participants of the Conference adopted a Resolution in which, among other things, they “express compassion and concern for the millions of refugees from Asia, the Middle East and Africa who had been exiled from their birthplaces as a result of mass religious intolerance and terrorism”.
The gathering condemned the “forced de-Christianisation of the Middle East from where Christians are exiled en masse from areas acknowledged as the cradle of Christianity”.
“De-Christianisation leads to dehumanisation of these historic areas, which has disastrous consequences on the fate of all of humanity”, says the final document of the Conference.
The participants of the Conference chaired by the Prof. Dr Valery Alexeev, thanked the President and Government of the Republic of Serbia, the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the City of Pirot, as well as the political and business circles for the warm and heartfelt welcome and assistance in the preparation and realisation of the high-level international forum.
