National Assembly Deputy Speaker Kovacs Meets with Danish Ambassador to Serbia

National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the European Integration Committee Elvira Kovacs met today at the National Assembly with the Danish Ambassador to Serbia Pernille Dahler Kardel, on the eve of Denmark’s upcoming presidency of the EU Council, in July of this year.

Elvira Kovacs informed the Ambassador about the current political and social situation in Serbia, as well as the work of the National Assembly, stressing the need to establish dialogue between all the political groups so as to enable the unhindered operation of the Parliament.

Speaking of the prospects of Serbia’s European integration, the Danish Ambassador expressed support for the continued reform processes aimed at opening new negotiation clusters, at the same time underlining the importance of integration not only of Serbia, but the entire Western Balkans region.

Kovacs and Kardel agreed that it would be mutually beneficial to, at the very beginning of the Danish presidency, hold a sitting of the European Integration Committee where Ambassador Pernille Dahler Kardel would present the priorities of Denmark’s presidency of the EU Council to the Committee members.
