National Assembly Delegation Takes Part in OECD Global Parliamentary Network Session

Over 140 parliamentarians from member states, as well as partner countries, of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, are taking part in the session of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network, held in Paris from 5 to 7 February.

The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia is represented by National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus and MPs Milan Radin and Branislav Josifovic.

The session is dedicated to the topics of artificial intelligence, climate change mitigation, demography and demographic change, and energy.

In the discussion on artificial intelligence, Deputy Speaker Ragus emphasised that Serbia is a leader in the field of artificial intelligence among the countries of Southeast Europe, stressing that from 2017 on, Serbia has done a lot in the field of artificial intelligence, first and foremost by recognising the importance of studying artificial intelligence from primary, through secondary, to higher education.

She pointed out that Serbia was the first country in Southeast Europe to adopt a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in 2019, and in 2021, established the Institute for Artificial Intelligence, the first institute dedicated to artificial intelligence research in the Southeast European region.

Recognising the importance and rapid development of artificial intelligence, Serbia has joined the 29 countries in the world that make up the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence, which it is currently chairing.

On the sidelines of the session, the National Assembly delegation had bilateral contacts with MPs from France, Morocco, Slovenia, and representatives of international parliamentary organisations taking part in the session of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network.
