National Assembly’s Role in Area of Defence Presented to Advanced Defence Studies Attendees

The Chairman of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee, Chairman of the Security Services Control Committee and the Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, met with the attendees of the National Defence School “Vojvoda Radomir Putnik” Advanced Security and Defence Studies attendees visiting the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The attendees were greeted by National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic who wished them success in their studies and professional training. She spoke of the challenges of the current global political situation, stressing that they will, after completing the National Defence School, play an important role in advancing cooperation with other countries, following the policy of peace and stability pursued by the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.

In the course of the meeting, the attendees were presented the duties and activities of the assembly committees in the areas of foreign policy, defence and security, as well as the importance of parliamentary supervision over the work of the security services. The scope of committees was presented by the Chairman of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee MA Milovan Drecun, Chairman of the Security Services Control Committee MA Igor Becic and the Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Dragan Markovic.

The participants exchanged opinions on the current defence challenges and the role of the National Assembly in their analysis with a special focus on the importance of the institutions in maintaining the stability and security of the Republic of Serbia.
