NATO PA Delegation Visits National Assembly
A delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Political Committee met today, at the National Assembly House, with the members of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, European Integration Committee and the Committee on Kosovo-Metohija.
Speaking of the political situation in Serbia, the Chairman of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee, Dusan Bajatovic, deemed that the democratic processes in Serbia are being successfully implemented, especially in the sphere of combating crime and corruption. As regards the issue of Kosovo-Metohija, it is very important to make sure that the Serbian community in Kosovo-Metohija enjoys all the rights it is entitled to according to the highest standards, added Bajatovic.
The Head of the NATO PA delegation, Marit Nybakk, and the delegation members wanted to know about Serbia’s European integration process, Serbia’s regional policy goals and the position on Serbia’s joining NATO, as well as the implementation of the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina.
Bajatovic also said that the establishment of good regional cooperation in the Western Balkans necessitates Europe’s help, especially for the stabilisation of the economic situation, which is a prerequisite for the establishment of stable political relations in the region. As regards Serbia’s joining NATO, Bajatovic explained that Serbia is a neutral country, but it does cooperate with all NATO member states.
MPs Dubravka Filipovski, Dragan Sormaz and Jelena Trivan also took part in the meeting.
