NARS Speaker Talks to Belarus Charge d’Affairs

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic talked today with the Belarus Charge d’Affairs Sergey Cicuk.

The officials stressed that the cooperation between the two countries, primarily in the political sphere, is very good. Efforts are being made to improve economic cooperation as soon as possible. Certain steps are already being taken to this end. The officials noted that parliamentary cooperation can greatly contribute to the improvement of bilateral cooperation, and should therefore be furthered as soon as possible. To this end, meetings between friendship groups and science and culture committees and committees covering the various areas of current and potential future cooperation should be given a chance. Cicuk proposed that the NARS friendship group should visit the Belarusian Parliament.

Cicuk informed the Speaker that a Belarus delegation would take part in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Belgrade and that the delegation would include the president of the Belarus-Serbia friendship group. The NARS Speaker briefed the Belarus Charge d’Affairs on Serbia’s efforts to become a European Union member as soon as possible. Djukic-Dejanovic sent an invitation to the Belarus Parliament Speaker as well as parliamentary delegation to visit Serbia.
