Today, National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received representatives of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovakia comprising the Chair Ivetta Macejkova, judges Marianna Mochnacova and Sergej Kohut. The meeting was attended by the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia Bosa Nenadic, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovakia to Belgrade H.E. Igor Furdik and Consul Katarina Stehlikova.

The Assembly Speaker was briefed on the cooperation between the constitutional courts of Serbia and Slovakia which officially began last year by Bosa Nenadic’s visit to the Slovak Constitutional Court. “The relationship between the two courts exceeds standards, as do the relations between Serbia and Slovakia”, stressed Macejkova.

The Assembly Speaker was informed of the Slovak Constitutional Court’s initiative to create an Association of Constitutional Courts of countries where Slavic languages are spoken.

Djukic-Dejanovic stated that she would fully endorse the initiative since it also cultivates Slavic culture and languages.

“Creating the Association would contribute to the development of inter-state relations”, the Assembly Speaker said.

The officials discussed the relationship between the Parliament and Constitutional Court in both Slovakia and Serbia.
