Mexico Strives to Improve Parliamentary Cooperation and Tourism with Serbia

Ana Karadzic, Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Mexico met today at the National Assembly House with Mexican Ambassador to Serbia Marco Antonio García Blanco.

The Ambassador informed the Head of the PFG with Mexico that, following last year’s parliamentary elections, the new legislature set up a new Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia which is a strong testament to the friendly relations between the two countries.

He also hopes that the 141st IPU Assembly in October of this year in Belgrade would be accompanied by a bilateral meeting with the Mexican delegation to the event. “A bilateral meeting would contribute to our ties and relations, and we also hope for an official visit of the National Assembly Speaker to Mexico”, said the Ambassador.

The Ambassador went on to inform MP Karadzic about the successful trade between the two countries, Mexican investments in Serbia and the objectives the country is working on, among them the abolition of visas. This would help advance tourism between Serbia and Mexico, something the Belgrade-Istanbul-Mexico City flight, to open in late August, has already set in motion.

The Head of the PFG with Mexico said she was pleased to hear about Mexico’s new PFG with Serbia, which is a sure signal that the country would like to see the already good and friendly relations develop further. She also believes that the meeting of the two delegations at the 141st IPU Assembly in Belgrade could contribute to the further development of interparliamentary cooperation and overall relations.

The Officials agreed that the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Serbia-Mexico official relations should be planned on time and discussed what would best showcase Serbian and Mexican culture and tradition.
