Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group with Venezuela Meet with Venezuelan Foreign Minister

The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Venezuela met today at the National Assembly with the Minister of the People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Jorge Arreaza, in official visit to Serbia. The officials discussed the current political situation in Venezuela, global political trends and the importance of the two countries’ reciprocal support on the international scene.

The Head of the PFG with Venezuela Djordje Komlenski said he supported the Venezuelan people’s call for freedom, the highest value. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said that the support of the PFG with Venezuela and the National Assembly to the people and Government of Venezuela is very important. He briefed the MPs on the origin of the problems and events that led to the political crisis in Venezuela and the US Government’s direct interference and pressure. He said that there is no humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, that it is just an excuse used to topple the legitimately elected regime.

Minister Arreaza thanked Serbia for its support in these very difficult moments for Venezuela, adding that if there were a civil war in Venezuela, it would destabilize the entire Caribbean region.

PFG members Vjerica Radeta, Milorad Mircic and Natasa Jovanovic spoke about Serbia and Venezuela’s similar historical experiences, global political trends and the role of big powers.
