Meeting of Women’s Parliamentary Network

The Women’s Parliamentary Network had a meeting at the National Assembly House, on 16 November, to discuss the Fourth National Conference of the Women’s Parliamentary Network, held on 4 November.

The WPN stressed that the Conference had the biggest turnout of representatives of local authorities and institutions to date, and its importance as a good example of gender-equal political action in Serbia had been globally recognised. The members concluded that the Women’s Parliamentary Network had, during its years of operation, to a great extent empowered and encouraged women to take active part in public political life at the local level, especially by taking active part in gender responsive budgeting.

The WPN members also spoke about taking active part in the work on the Bill on Preventing Domestic Violence and the Bill amending and modifying the Criminal Code, as well as the amendments submitted to the bills by civil society organisations.

They also deliberated on and formulated the plan of coming WPN activities.
