Meeting of Republic of Serbia and Republic of Srpska MPs

The Head of the ALEKSANDAR VUCIC – Serbia Must Not Stop Parliamentary Group Milenko Jovanov, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Nevena Djuric and MPs Aleksandar Mirkovic, Biljana Pantic Pilja and Milimir Vujadinovic met, in the National Assembly, with a delegation of the United Srpska Parliamentary Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, headed by Aleksandar Trninic and MPs Milan Trninic, Mirela Kajkut – Zeljkovic, Nikolina Sljivic and Milan Petkovic.

At the meeting, the members of parliament exchanged information and opinions on the current political situation in the Republic of Serbia and Republic of Srpska, and the legislative activities in the two parliaments.

The parliamentarians agreed that it is of utmost importance to maintain continuous communication and harmonise legal solutions, with the aim of improving the work of institutions, as well as fulfilling obligations from the European agenda, while at the same time pursuing an independent foreign policy and maintaining military neutrality. They opined that joint parliamentary activities are leading a successful fight for the rights of the Republic of Srpska under the Dayton Agreement and UN and EU charters and conventions, of which Serbia is the guarantor and the Republic of Srpska is a signatory to the Dayton annexes.

The cooperation between the two parliamentary groups dates back to 2020 and the signing of an agreement between the heads of the two parliamentary groups, while with the formation of the Republic of Serbia - Republic of Srpska Parliamentary Forum, as permanent bodies of the two parliaments, whose Memorandum of Formation was signed in 2023 by the heads of the parliament - Dr Vladimir Orlic and Dr Nenad Stevandic, interparliamentary cooperation has been raised to the highest institutional level.

The participants of the meeting jointly assessed that they would continue to act in a coordinated and unified manner in the future, regardless of difficulties and challenges.
