Marina Ragus Meets with Spanish Ambassador

National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus met today with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Serbia Juan Jose Sanz Aparicio.

The officials opined that the improvement of parliamentary relations and cooperation at all levels is of interest to both countries.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus said that Serbia considers Spain a friendly country, which perseveres in respecting its territorial integrity and sovereignty, especially in the current geopolitical circumstances, something Serbia respects very much. She stressed that the improvement of parliamentary cooperation between the National Assembly and the Spanish Congress and Senate is extremely important, in view of the friendly relations between the two countries. She informed Ambassador Sanz Aparicio about the formation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Spain in the Serbian National Assembly, adding that the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee is more than ready to cooperate with the Spanish colleagues, given that parliamentary diplomacy will be the focus of this legislation of the National Assembly. She added that she expected future activities to add to a new format of cooperation between the parliaments.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Serbia assessed that this is an ideal moment to intensify cooperation between the parliamentarians, given that Spain supports Serbia's aspirations to full EU membership in the EU and has no doubts about Serbia's views concerning the defence of territorial integrity and sovereignty. He added that it is vital that Spanish MPs establish direct contact and cooperation with their Serbian colleagues, which is of particular importance on a multilateral level.
