Head of PFG with China Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic Meets with Chinese Press Delegation

The Head of PFG with China Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic met today with a press delegation of the Chinese State Council Information Office to discuss advancing media, cultural and educational cooperation.

Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic said that the relations between the two countries are traditionally solid and good adding that Serbia and China also enjoy a high level of interparliamentary and bilateral cooperation as evidenced by the frequent reciprocal visits of high dignitaries.

Obradovic said that Serbia has received the most Chinese investments in this part of the world as evidenced among other things by the three billion euro worth of agreements the two countries had signed, concerning mainly infrastructure and energy. He added that within the “16+1” process Serbia tops the list as the country with the most contracts and ongoing projects with China.

Obradovic thanked China for its principled stance on the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and its UNESCO bid.

The representatives of the Chinese State Council Information Office said that they are visiting Serbia under the auspices of the cooperation agreement signed in 2016, adding that Serbian media representatives had visited China in 2016 and 2017, while this is the first visit of Chinese media to Serbia. They hope the media cooperation would expand because the media are the main channel of information for the general public.

The host and guests agreed that there is room to advance media, cultural and educational cooperation especially through cinematographic, musical and literary exchanges.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Media.
