Head and Members of PFG with Turkey Meet with Turkish Ambassador to Serbia

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Turkey Milimir Vujadinovic and the PFG members met today at the National Assembly with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Serbia Ilhan Saygili.

Milimir Vujadinovic stressed that interparliamentary cooperation is one of the links in the exceptional political relations between the two countries, the foundation of which was set by presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Aleksandar Vucic. He added that the good relations are also evident in the fields of trade, investment and tourism.

Recalling the centuries of relations between Serbia and Turkey, Ambassador Ilhan Saygili said that current global challenges are more easily overcome with mutual support of friendly states. He stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and regular communication between the parliamentarians, as the elected representatives of the citizens, and invited the members of the PFG with Turkey to visit their colleagues in the Turkish Parliament.

The meeting was also attended by the following members of the PFG with Turkey: Zagorka Aleksic, Olivera Denic, Milovan Drecun, Prim. Dr Nada Macura, Milija Miletic, Natasa Milic Milas, Anita Nesic, Tanja Radjenovic, Prof. Dr Andreja Savic, Dr Ljiljana Sarac and Edin Numanovic.

The participants of the meeting jointly assessed that furthering bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Serbia and Turkey is of mutual interest. They emphasised that, despite some open issues, there is a will on both sides to overcome these disagreements through dialogue and discussion.
