Gojkovic Meets with Filip Vujanovic
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with the President of Montenegro Filip Vujanovic, currently in visit to Serbia.
Gojkovic said that the Republic of Serbia is dedicated to bilateral relations with Montenegro and interested in promoting relations in all areas, especially as regards the two country’s common priority – EU accession. In that context Gojkovic said that the citizens of Serbia had, in the recent elections, again confirmed their support for the course of reforms and Serbia’s European path.
The National Assembly Speaker said that Serbia and Montenegro also share a strong interest for cooperation within the Berlin Process which is greatly significant for the Euro-integration process of the entire Western Balkans region as well as peace and stability in it.
Expressing pleasure that the Montenegrin state holiday is celebrated in freedom-loving Belgrade by the opening of the Montenegrin House, President Vujanovic said that his country is ready to deepen its comprehensive and intensive relations with Serbia at all levels, accompanied by mutual respect and understanding.
He opined that the focus of cooperation should be on economy and infrastructural projects since these are especially important for the living standards of the two close countries’ citizens.
He also underlined the readiness to strengthen the bilateral partnership in the context of the whole region’s European perspective.
The two officials also highlighted the importance of the parliament’s role for the development of overall bilateral relations.
