Gojkovic Meets with Delegation of European Parliament

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with a delegation of the European Parliament comprising the Leader of the European People's Party in the European Parliament Manfred Weber, the Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs David McAllister and the European Parliament’s rapporteur for Serbia Vladimir Bilcik.

Gojkovic and the representatives of the European Parliament discussed the state-of-play of the enlargement policy and in that context, the prospects of Serbia and the Western Balkan region.

Gojkovic said that Serbia remains committed to the Euro-integration process, hoping that new negotiation chapters would be opened by the end of Finland’s Presidency of the European Council. She added that Serbia is ready to open four new chapters and cannot be satisfied with the dynamics of the process.

Gojkovic also spoke about the current activities of the National Assembly and the Inter-Party Dialogue with the mediation of the European Parliament.

Gojkovic and the European parliamentarians also spoke about regional cooperation, stressing the importance of continuing regional parliamentary cooperation.
