Gojkovic Heads Delegation to Russia at Session of Russia-Serbia Parliamentary Commission

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic will be heading the Serbian Assembly’s delegation to the Fifth Session of the Joint Cooperation Commission of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in Moscow, on 12 February 2020.


The Serbian Assembly Speaker and the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin will have a bilateral meeting and then open the session of the two parliaments’ Cooperation Commission. Gojkovic will also meet with the Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko.

At the Cooperation Commission session the members of the two parliaments will discuss the parliamentary follow-up of the realization of the Russia-Serbia talks concerning key and prospective areas of bilateral cooperation, among other things energy production, information and communication technologies, digital economy, and the coordination of State Duma – National Assembly work on strengthening international and regional security within bilateral and multilateral formats. The Commission members will also discuss the joint efforts to protect historic memory and oppose heroization of Nazism in the context of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War Two.

The co-chairs of the Commission are Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Djordje Milicevic and the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship Sergey Aleksandrovich Zhigarev.

The National Assembly delegation also comprises MPs Zarko Obradovic, Milovan Drecun, Sandra Bozic, Dragomir Karic and Dubravka Filipovski.

The Joint Cooperation Commission of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was established under the auspices of the two parliaments’ Cooperation Agreement in December 2015.
