The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic sent a telegram of condolences to the Speaker of the Indian House of the People Sumitra Mahajan and the Chairman of the Council of States Mohammad Hamid Ansari on the deaths caused by the devastating heat wave:

“We were deeply shocked by the news of the catastrophic heat wave which has claimed so many lives. On the behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and myself, please allow me to extend our deepest condolences and solidarity.

It is difficult to find words of consolation in this terrible moment, but I am sure you will find the strength to assist those endangered and offer support to the people who have lost those closest to them.”
