At the sitting held on 21 December, the Justice and Administration Committee considered the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Judges for a three-year term of office at courts of general and special jurisdiction. The Committee noted that the Proposal on the election of judges had been submitted by the High Judicial Council as an authorised submitter.

Following the discussion, the Committee decided to propose that the National Assembly accept the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Judges for a three-year term of office at courts of general and special jurisdiction.

The Committee members considered the Proposal of the State Prosecutors Council for the first election of Deputy Public Prosecutor and, having discussed it, decided to propose to the National Assembly to accept the Proposal of the State Prosecutors Council.

The Committee went on to discuss the seven Bills included in the agenda for the Seventh Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2009 in principle, viz. the Bills amending and modifying the Criminal Code, amending and modifying the Civil Procedure Act, on Administrative Disputes, amending and modifying the Misdemeanor Law, amending and modifying the Law on the Prevention of Violence and Inappropriate Behaviour at Sporting Events, amending the Law on Real Estate Transfer and on the Expiration of the Law on Organisation and Operation of Economic Units of Institutions for the Execution of Penal Sanctions.

The Committee unanimously endorsed the Bills and proposed that the National Assembly adopt the Bills in principle.
