Foreign Affairs Committee Members Talk to PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon
The members of the Foreign Affairs Committee met today, at the National Assembly House, with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Jean-Claude Mignon.
Talking about the monitoring process, Mignon stated that, since he is aware it is a sensitive topic for Serbia, the process is there to follow the assumption of the obligations Serbia undertook for the duration of the monitoring. Mignon underlined the fact that the PACE monitoring reports are positive as encouraging for Serbia, commending its positive change of attitude as regards the Kosovo issue. Mignon relayed PACE’s support for Serbia’s efforts toward European Union membership, expressing readiness to meet with the Foreign Affairs Committee more often to discuss specific issues of interest for Serbia.
On the behalf of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Committee member Marija Obradovic briefed the PACE delegation on the priorities of the current parliamentary legislature, listing the improvement of parliamentary diplomacy among the most important ones.
