Foreign Affairs Committee Deputy Chairperson Talks to Georgian Ambassador in Athens
Aleksandra Djurovic, Deputy Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, welcomed the newly-appointed Georgian Ambassador in Athens Ioseb Nanobashvili, stressing that Serbia greatly values its friendly relations with Georgia.
She then asked about the results of the parliamentary elections in Georgia, held on 8 October.
The Georgian Ambassador informed the Committee Deputy Chairperson about the results of the parliamentary elections, at the same time proposing that the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee come and visit Georgia, a visit which the officials agreed should be realised in the spring of next year.
The Georgian Ambassador agreed that bilateral and economic cooperation should be intensified, adding that it would necessitate delegating a Georgian diplomat to deal with the improvement of the abovementioned cooperation between the two countries.
“It is of paramount importance that Georgia and Serbia continue their mutual support on the international scene”, stressed the Ambassador. He reaffirmed that Georgia would continue to back Serbia up as regards the Kosovo-Metohija issue, saying that preservation of unity and territorial integrity is of key importance for every country.
