European Integration Committee Delegation Takes Part in 23rd Meeting of COSAP

A delegation of the National Assembly’s European Integration Committee took part in the 23rd meeting of the Conference of the European Integration/Affairs Committees of States Participating in the Stabilisation and Association Process of the South-East Europe (COSAP), held on 4and 5 June 2026 in Struga, North Macedonia.


The conference is organised by the Committee on European Affairs of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, with the support of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The 23rd meeting of COSAP was attended by representatives of European Integration/Affairs Committees from the parliaments of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, which are members of COSAP. In addition, representatives of the Turkish Parliament’s Committee for Harmonisation with the EU and representatives of the Georgian Parliament’s European Integration Committee also took part. Also present were the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to North Macedonia, Regional Cooperation Council Secretary General, representatives of the Agency for International Cooperation, Chair of the Croatian Parliament’s European Affairs Committee and representatives of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia. The European Integration Committee delegation includes Branimir Josifovic and Dr Ana Jakovljevic, European Integration Committee members.

The Conference discussed:

  • The role of the Berlin Process in strengthening regional cooperation in the Western Balkans, with particular emphasis on economic integration and a common regional market, infrastructure development and connectivity, as well as political dialogue and regional stability;
  • Improving regional connectivity through modern transport infrastructure; energy security and green transition, with particular emphasis on modern transport infrastructure which is the key to economic growth, transport corridors and regional integration, development of smart power grids, security of energy supply, decarbonisation, as well as renewable energy sources;
  • The process of European integration of the countries of Southeast Europe in the current geopolitical context, with special emphasis on the process of enlargement and reform of the European Union, and on geopolitical influences and external actors.
At the end of the meeting, the participants adopted a Joint Statement.
