Eighth Sitting of the European Integration Committee

At the sitting held on 1 June 2023, the members of the European Integration Committee considered the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Foreigners, submitted by the Government, in principle, as well as the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Employment of Foreigners, submitted by the Government, also in principle.

The representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs presenting the bills said that the proposed amendments would align the provisions of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between the European Communities and their Member States on the one part and the Republic of Serbia on the other, and facilitate the conduct of the regulations in practice, as well as the development of a more favourable business environment.

Following a discussion, the Committee voted and adopted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Foreigners and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Employment of Foreigners, in principle.

The Committee went on to consider and adopt, in principle, the Bill on the Interoperability of the Railway System, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Railway and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Planning and Construction, all submitted by the Government.

The Committee also selected a delegation to take part in the summit of chairs of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC), to be held under the auspices of the parliamentary dimension of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, to be held 9-10 July 2023 in Madrid, Kingdom of Spain, comprising Elvira Kovacs and Milan Radin.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Elvira Kovacs, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Stanislava Janosevic, Milan Radin, Goran Milic, Jelena Obradovic, Milica Obradovic, Natan Albahari, Ana Miljanic, Dr Jelena Kalajadzic, Dubravka Filipovski, Ksenija Markovic, Prof. Dr Andreja Savic, Robert Kozma and Ivan Karic.
