Eighth Sitting of the Committee on the Rights of the Child

At the sitting held on 12 February 2026, the Committee on the Rights of the Child, considered the Ministry of Family Care and Demography Activity Information for the period 1 April – 30 June 2025 and the Ministry of Family Care and Demography Activity Information for the period 1 July – 30 September 2025.

The activity information was presented to the Committee members by Jelena Zaric Kovacevic, Minister of Family Care and Demography.

Following a discussion, the Committee members accepted the Ministry activity information.

Under item any other business, the Committee members raised the question of the preparation of the new strategy for prevention and protection of children from violence. In view of the gravity of the issue, it was proposed to convene a topical Committee sitting, and the Committee members were relayed the proposal of National Assembly Speaker and Committee Chairperson Ana Brnabic to invite representatives of competent ministries and other state authorities so that key issues of importance for the drafting of the strategic document can be discussed.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Deputy Chairperson Zagorka Aleksic, and attended by the following Subcommittee members and deputy members: Nevena Djuric, Elvira Kovacs, Haji Milorad Stosic, Natasa Mihajlovic, Vesna Nedovic, Dr Marija Zdravkovic, Dr Nada Macura, Dr Aleksandra Tomic, Anita Nesic, Ivan Karic, Ilo Mihajlovski, Dr Emese Uri, Branimir Jovanovic, Milija Miletic, Marina Mijatovic, Dr Tatjana Markovic-Topalovic, Sonja Pernat and Dunja Simonovic Bratic, as well as MP Slavica Radovanovic who is not member of the Committee.
