Dr Orlic with Representatives of Serbian Community in Slovenia

In the course of his official bilateral visit to the Republic of Slovenia, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic met with the President of the Union of Serbs in Slovenia Vladimir Kokanovic, President of the Union of Serbian Associations of Slovenia Zlatomir Bodiroza and representative of the Serb community in Slovenia’s Government Council for the affairs of peoples of former SFRY Krstan Sucur.

Dr Orlic said that in the meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Urska Klakocar Zupancic and the President of the Republic of Slovenia Natasa Pirc Musar, he had said he expected the authorities to carefully consider the possibilities for solving the position of the Serbs, since they do not have the status of a national minority, but the status of ethnic community. He also said that the Serbian community in the Republic of Slovenia can count on the support of the Republic of Serbia.

The representatives of the Serbian community informed Dr Orlic in detail about the current position of Serbs in the Republic of Slovenia, the activities they are carrying out in order to preserve the Serbian national identity and the efforts they are making to finally resolve their status issue in this country.

Topics that are of interest for the political and daily life of the Serbian community in the Republic of Slovenia were also on the agenda, whose representatives confirmed that, like never before, they now have the unequivocal help and support of the Republic of Serbia in resolving their status and position.
