Dr Orlic and IPU President: Serbian Assembly and IPU, Excellent Cooperation Example

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic met today in Kigali, under the auspices of the 145th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, with IPU President Duarte Pacheco.

At the very beginning, the IPU President congratulated Serbia and Belgrade on the excellent organisation of the 141st IPU Assembly, held in Europe for the first time in 20 years in 2019. “I would like to thank Serbia for its commitment to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, as well as its regular and active participation”, said Pacheco.

Dr Orlic stressed that the Serbian delegation, as well as the IPU itself, advocate for respecting the principles of international law and respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, just as any other country in the world.

He thanked Pacheco for his personal engagement on advancing relations between the Serbian Parliament and the IPU. “We consider you a true friend to our delegation and the National Assembly will continue to champion the common goals promoted by the IPU, as well as work on advancing cooperation both with the organisation and its individual member states”, concluded Orlic.
