Dr Orlic Receives Palestinian Ambassador in Fare-Well Visit

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic received the Ambassador of the State of Palestine H.E. Mohammed Nabhan in fare-well visit. Dr Orlic declared the two countries’ bilateral relations traditionally good and friendly and thanked the Ambassador for his personal contribution to making them even firmer and stronger.

“Palestine will stand by Serbia and strive to support it always and everywhere”, said Ambassador Nabhan, confirming the principled stance of non-recognition of so-called “Kosovo” and the continued support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, which the National Assembly Speaker thanked him for. The officials agreed that joint efforts for a consistent application of the principles of international law are a matter of great importance.

In the course of the meeting the officials affirmed the commitment to advancing interparliamentary cooperation, which, Dr Orlic stressed, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia stands ready to contribute to. Ambassador Nabhan praised the long years of educational cooperation between Serbia and Palestine, realised through the long-standing practice of scholarships for Palestinian students in Serbia and their participation in the “World in Serbia” programme. He added that he would take away beautiful memories from his time in Serbia and the conviction that the two countries would continue to cultivate mutual trust and understanding in the future.

“To our friends, as well as to our people, we wish peace”, said Dr Orlic at the end of the meeting, adding that Serbia remains committed to peace and stability, the state policy led by President Aleksandar Vucic, and also pursued, in accordance with the firm support and will of the people, by the National Assembly and Government of the Republic of Serbia.
