Deputy Speaker Ragus Meets with Brazilian Workers' Party Delegation

National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus met today with the delegation of the Workers' Party of Brazil currently visiting Serbia.

At the meeting, the officials opined that there is a mutual desire to improve bilateral relations between Serbia and Brazil.

The Secretary of the Workers' Party of Brazil Romenio Pereira said that that the Brazilian parliament was about to set up a friendship group with Serbia which would contribute to strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Ragus and Pereira exchanged views on the current political developments in the world, as well as the political and economic situation in both countries. They also discussed BRICS and the need to raise issues and topics of importance to the entire world, such as the participation of women in leadership positions in international institutions and forums, environmental protection and renewable energy sources, as well as resolving current conflicts in the world and commitment to a policy of global peace.

Pereira informed the National Assembly Deputy Speaker about his party's activities domestically and internationally, with special emphasis on cooperation with Chinese colleagues, while Ragus said that Serbia, although following a European path, pursues an independent foreign policy, cultivating friendly relations with the Russian Federation, People's Republic of China and BRICS countries.
