Deputy Speaker Djerlek Takes Part in Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Edin Djerlek took part in the first Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) held in Islamabad, organised by the Senate of Pakistan.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Djerlek delivered a speech at the plenary session of the conference, in which he highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, international dialogue and cooperation in the field of peace, security and sustainable development. In his address, he emphasised Serbia's commitment to preserving stability, strengthening regional cooperation and promoting partnerships based on mutual respect.

During his stay in Pakistan, Deputy Speaker Djerlek met with the President of the Senate of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani, the founder of this conference. They discussed the improvement of parliamentary relations and initiatives that can contribute to better understanding and closer cooperation between the two countries.

Djerlek also attended a gala dinner for conference participants, hosted by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, where the participants exchanged views on current global and regional issues.

Serbia's participation in the conference dedicated to the topic "Peace, Security and Development" represents a significant contribution to the strengthening of international parliamentary ties, as well as to the further affirmation of the role of the National Assembly in multilateral cooperation.
