Delegations of Assembly Committees Visit Serbian Armed Forces in Ground Safety Zone

Today, members of the National Assembly’s Defence and Internal Affairs Committee and the Security Services Control Committee visited base “Merdare” in the Ground Safety Zone and “Toplicki Ustanak” barracks in Kursumlija.

The delegations headed by MPs MA Milovan Drecun and MA Igor Becic,were welcomed at base “Merdare" by the Commander of the Ground Forces, Major General Zoran Naskovic, who, in addition to welcoming them, presented the tasks and organisation of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces in the Ground Safety Zone.

During the visit to the base, the delegations had the opportunity to see for themselves the equipment and capabilities of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the significantly improved conditions for their life and work. On the occasion, they were also shown the modern optoelectronics, unmanned aerial vehicles, high-mobility motor vehicles, protective equipment and small arms that soldiers and officers use to secure the administrative line with the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija, and whose introduction has greatly improved the efficiency and optimised the use of forces on the ground in this part of our country.

Continuing the visit, at the Kursumlija barracks "Toplicki Ustanak", the delegations of the parliamentary committees laid a wreath at the memorial to members of the 354th Infantry Brigade of the Yugoslav Army who died during the NATO aggression against the FRY.
