Defence and Internal Affairs Committee Visits Special Anti-Terrorist Unit Base

On 29 June 2021, the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee visited the base of the Ministry of the Interior’s Special Anti-Terrorist Unit in Belgrade.

In the course of the visit, the members of the Committee had the opportunity to learn about the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit’s role, conditions and manner of operation, as well as its technical equipment, training and the manner of selection of candidates.

The Committee members gained insight into the tactical training and physical readiness of Special Anti-Terrorist Unit members by observing a demonstration of tactical exercises of hostage recovery and sudden intrusion into closed rooms by lowering ropes from the roof. The MPs also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the combat techniques, weapons and equipment the members of the unit use in the performance of daily tasks.

The visiting delegation consisted of Committee Chairman Aleksandar Markovic, Committee members Dusko Tarbuk, Uglesa Mrdic, Srbislav Filipovic, Aleksandar Mirkovic, Jelena Mijatovic and Natasa Mihailovic Vacic, as well as deputy members Tomislav Jankovic, Natasa Ljubisic, Milica Nikolic, Boris Bursac, Nebojsa Pavlovic and Justina Pupin Koscal.
