Dacic Meets with Bulgarian Prime Minister

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov today.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic congratulated Petkov on his election for Prime Minister, expressing satisfaction that Serbia is among the first countries to be visited by the Bulgarian Prime Minister since taking office. Dacic stressed that we consider Bulgaria a particularly important partner and friendly country, expressing readiness to work on strengthening cooperation between the two countries, as he had done in his previous functions.

Prime Minister Petkov said he was most pleased by his visit to Serbia, pointing out that he received a warm welcome from all officials in Serbia, as well as readiness and openness to cooperate. He said that Serbia is an important partner for Bulgaria and that the two countries enjoy good cooperation across the board. "Bulgaria's wish is to focus on the future and to create a new image of the Balkans through the strengthening of cooperation, infrastructural and economic ties", stressed Petkov. He restated that Bulgaria views Serbia as a friendly country and is ready to help in its European integration process. Prime Minister Petkov congratulated the National Assembly Speaker on the successfully implemented constitutional reforms, to be ratified by the National Assembly tomorrow.

The meeting was also attended by the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Vladimir Orlic and the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Bulgaria Vesna Ivkovic.
