Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of EU Parliaments Held
National Assembly Deputy Speaker and member of the European Integrations Committee Gordana Comic took part in the 47th COSAC, Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union.
The Conference was held in Copenhagen from 22 to 24 April 2012, as part of Denmark’s presidency over the EU.
More 160 participants of the Conference, members of European affairs committees of EU member states and candidate countries, discussed the 20th anniversary of the implementation of the single internal market for the free movement of goods, people, services and capital; smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in Europe, single internal market for services, environmental protection and the digital single market.
The Conference was chaired by Eva Kjer Hansen, Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament, who, in her opening address, particularly commended the participation of representatives from Serbia which was invited to take part in the Conference for the first time after receiving candidate status.
At the end of the Conference, the participants adopted a joint statement urging greater unity and more activity on strengthening and promoting the functioning of the EU single market, as well as a more pronounced role of the parliaments in the process.
